FRANKFORT, Ky. (ABC 36 NEWS NOW) — Kentucky is continuing to see progress in the fight against drug overdose deaths, according to Governor Andy Beshear. The governor announced new data showing a 30.2% decrease in overdose fatalities in 2024 compared to the previous year.

The state recorded just over 1,400 overdose deaths last year — the lowest total in several years. It marks the third consecutive year that overdose deaths have declined across the Commonwealth.
