Kentucky’s Jaxson Robinson will have surgery and his season is overThe Kentucky Wildcats had a tough Saturday. They were blown out at home by Auburn, 94-78 and were never really in the game. The loss was compounded by the news that starting guard Jaxson Robinson would miss the remainder of the season.
Robinson suffered an injury to his wrist a few weeks ago in practice. He then missed a few games before returning against the Oklahoma Sooners on Wednesday. However, he left that game early, and didn’t return.
The loss is a big one. Robinson was often a spark plug for the offense, getting hot and making multiple big baskets in more than one game. He was averaging 13 points a game for the Wildcats this season.
His leadership will certainly be missed as well. He had experience in coach Mark Pope’s system and was invaluable early on.
How Kentucky responds will be closely watched by fans. They have just two more games in the regular season, then the SEC Tournament before the NCAA Tournament.
In a season full of adversity, this is just one more complication for the Cats to overcome.
