Ourstudentsaresmartandcapable.Theyareprepared.Theyhavethetechnicalskillsnecessarytodothejob,workinginwhatareoftencomplexfields.
Butinmanycases,Iwastoldintoday’senvironment,employersneedmoreofwhatareoftencalledsoftskills–theabilitytocommunicateandpresent,workinteamsandnavigatejobexpectationsaswellaschallengingsituationsandpersonalities.
Itwastimelyandimportantfeedback.OurBoardofTrusteeshasdirectedmeandourcampustoworkquicklyandintentionallytoaccelerateourprogressinadvancingthestate.Howwepreparestudentsforagrowingworkforce,andhowwepreparemoreofthem,iscentraltothateffort.So,too,ishowourinstitutioncanmovequicklyandresponsivelywhenthestateasksustodoandbemore.
